Wrist Pain

The human wrist is a very complex joint which is made up of 8 small bones and is arranged in 2 rows in between the bones of the hand and forearm. Bands of ligaments connect the wrist and bones together and the tendons attach the muscles to the bones. When a part of the wrist part is damaged, it affects the use of the hand and wrist. Wrist problems have been increasing, especially in people who work at a computer.
There are many things that can cause wrist problems, including arthritis, certain diseases, and injuries. There are two kinds of arthritis: Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid. Osteoarthritis is fairly uncommon but may be caused by previous wrist injuries. Rheumatoid Arthritis is a body disorder in which the immune system is attacked, which leads to wrist dysfunction. Injuries to the wrist can also cause pain which may get worse due repetitive stress and sudden impacts. Any activity involving repetitive motion of the wrist can inflame the tissues surrounding the joints, especially if the movement is carried on without breaks and for continuous hours. Sudden injuries are also a cause of wrist injuries which can lead to strains, sprains and fractures.

Other conditions and diseases that can cause pain in the wrist include Ganglion Cysts, Kienbock Disease, Tendonitis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, fractures, and sprains. Repetitive strain injuries and carpel tunnel syndrome are very common in an office workplace. Improper posture and working without taking breaks may decrease the flow of blood to the arms which can cause wrist pain.
Chiropractic care can help in diagnosing the cause of wrist pain. There are a number of different treatments available if you are suffering from wrist pain.
